With this we hope to answer some of the FAQ’s about this unique event. Please read the information below carefully.
Q: What classes are racing on Saturday?
A: ALL classes are racing on Saturday. Please see attached schedule for details
Q: Do the afternoon A & Pro riders have to ride up in the 9:15 parade on Saturday even though they are not racing until 3 PM?
A: Yes, all riders in all classes will need to be ready to leave the gondola parking area at 9:00 AM on Saturday. We only have 1 parade up, and 1 parade down each day. Each rider registration package contains 1 participant gondola pass. You may use this pass to ride up and down the mountain as many times in 1 day as you would like. If you leave the mountain on the gondola, please pay attention to the time it takes to travel up in the gondola and be sure to allow yourself extra time in case there are lines, so that you don’t miss your afternoon race. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are there and ready to race on time!
The Mountain House Lodge at the top of the mountain is also open for food and beverages, so you may want to bring a wallet / credit card with you
Q: When I am done racing, can I just leave the mountain on my bike?
A: NO – you must wait for the parade that will leave after the afternoon A & Pro race each day! Silver Mountain has many mountain bike trails which cross the roads that we use to access the mountain. The crossings are not marked or manned; and the parade is pre-planned for safety for all bikes on the mountain. We understand that this can make for a long day, but please utilize the lodge and/or watch the afternoon races – they are sure to be exciting!
Q: Since we can’t drive vehicles up the mountain, how can we get gas cans and tools up to the race area?
A: We will have 2 trailers that lead and follow up the parade. You are fee to place gas cans and tools in the trailers to be hauled to the top. PLEASE BE SURE TO MARK YOUR BELONGINGS, as you are responsible to make sure that they are picked up in a timely manner. You may also send chairs, coolers, pop up tents, etc. up in the gondola with any spectators that are joining you. The trailers will also be utilized to haul any disabled motorcycles back to town.
Q: Can we camp overnight in the parking lot across from the resort?
A: We have seen this in the past; and it has not been a problem for RV’s to park overnight in the parking lot. Please know that there are a lot of people and vehicles that will need to park there, so please park sensibly and utilize the space carefully. We have been told that Silver Mountain may be charging for overnight parking this year, but this has not been confirmed yet. If there is a charge, it will be nominal.
Q: Is there a place for spectators to watch?
A: We will have a rock/tire/log section at the bottom of chairlift 1, as we did last year. This is a great place to watch some of the action. Silver Mountain has also arranged for a beer vendor and a portable toilet to be placed there for spectators to utilize. We have also created a spectator map highlighting some of the trails that lead to viewing areas. There will be 3 chairlifts running all day, with sections of course that you can view from the chairs. Please understand that we are on a heavily wooded ski mountain; and the best viewing spots require some walking to access.
On behalf of our entire staff, we thank you for choosing to race with us!
See you all soon!
